Meet the Author |
Carl D. Petit volunteered for military service immediately after high school in 1943. He served in the 8th Army Air Force, 493rd Bomb Group, 860th Squadron stationed in England. A radio operator on a B-17, the author received the Army Air Medal. Born in Charleston, South Carolina, Petit is retired. He lives in Charleston with his wife of 57 years, Dorothy. Carl has been a history buff all his life and has devoted the past four years to writing this book. Much of the first section of the book is taken directly from the diary he kept during the war. |
